Old timers always said never to stand in the water while cranking the phone and that 1/4 stick was plenty in most situations.

TO HAVE FISHED IS NOT TOO HAVE CAUGHT! BUT TO HAVE CAUGHT IS TOO HAVE FISHED!!!! Had to learn this My Grandfather would say(He passed on before I understood what it meant) before you can fish!! Fishing is not about catching a limit every time you or out its the quality of the time you have spent on the water!!!! Share it (fishing) with our kid's and family so they too can know and see the wonders of the outdoors!!!!! Learn something every time you are out!!! The outdoors "fishing and hunting" is more than killing or catching"

"Can't catch nothing if your hook ain't in the water." I remember hearing that a lot when I was a kid.

I still fish old school and can tell you fish still eat the same way and swim the same way hide the same way.I depend on my eyes and brain to think like a fish to eat swim and hide,I depend on the weather, lay of land around the lake, birds, animals and a want to catch a miss.Alittle over 30 years ago I bought a fish finder a flasher and a color coder.Year and half later I realized I was depending on the tec stuff to catch my fish, took it out.I love old school and with new lures and jigs its alot easier fooling the fish and when fishing is tough I still carry a skulling paddle.I still use my T.M. but know its sending a sound under water warning ever fish within several 100 feet around me.A tm will spook alot of feeding fish and if they are ln lockjaw mold it makes them hide deeper in the brush.Everybody has their on way of liking how they fish which makes it fun, thats whats its all about now days.

    Untitled Album

"I think that one on the end is either a bass or a drum. We didn't own a boat until I was 14 so it was fishing the way fishing was meant to be. He taught me lots about fishing about being quiet and not shadowing the fishing hole. How to rake up night crawlers on the river and and belly crawl up to the creek banks and catch those small mouth that had come out of spring river up the creeks. He taught... me how to find bream beads and the right places to string a trotline. He taught me that bobbers were for sissies and anything that couldn't be caught on a Zebco and a worm didn't need to be caught anyway. He taught me about truth, and life, and gave me my first lesson in geometry when I asked him at 12 years old how to cut rafters for a house. He tried to teach me how to shoot like he did, and I never mastered that. He taught me it was a sin to squirrel hunt with a shotgun and that doves were birds of peace and not to be shot. He taught me how to build rabbit gums and that Sundays were a day of rest. He taught me not to waste what I shot or caught and to share with others not so fortunate. He showed me the fun of not pulling the trigger and watching the magic of nature take its course. It's been 8 years and 3 months since I've seen him, but the memories are like yesterdays.See More

My dad, grandad, and uncles fished lakes in the White River bottoms. I started going when I was real young and that's where I love to do most of my fishing now. I thought for a long time that was the only place to fish. I loved it then and I love it more now. The harder it was to get to a lake and the muddier you got the better. A lot of people still fish there but it's to rough for some. A lot of the time your the only one on some of these lakes. Some I have to walk a good distance and you take just enough equipment to fish. I fish alot of other places now but because of the men that taught me about these places I'll not quit going.
