    Default Depth Finder Advice???

Fixing to buy a new depth finder for the front of the boat.(trolling motor transducer) Any suggestions on what to get?? Already have a handheld GPS so I really don't need that feature. I have a Lowrance x37 mounted on the steering console that reeds off the transom but all its good for is water depth and temp and I can't see it while I'm in the front of the boat. There are so many choices I'm not sure what to buy.

You can't go wrong with a Humminbird. Make sure it's a Color display. 500,or 700 series depending on your budget

if you're just looking for an inexpensive basic sonar, the lowrance full size x series or the eagle full size fish mark series are hard to beat...i've got a lowrance x135 on the trolling motor and a humminbird chartplotter combo on the transom...the lowrance is alot clearer and easy to use and cabelas did have the x96 and x135 on sale... i'd stay away from the cheaper garmin sonars...garmin makes a good gps but is lacking in the sonar department

All we will probably do is confuse you.
I fish out of a stick steer. I have what ever came with the boat on the stern. It is probably a Hummingbird 535 with a duel cone signal. I chose to add a HB 535 single 20 degree cone with the transducer mounted to the trolling motor. I wanted to use the duel cone to get me in the general area and the singel cone to "zero" in to a brush pile I may be looking for.
I can't emphasize how much this set up has helped me. I can stay on top of a hole by keeping the brush in both screens.
I think they are HB 535's. The bargain ones. I am techno challanged and wouldn't know what to do with a bunch of features.

For the price , look at 300 Cuda at Academy Sports for 69.99 + tax. It and my handheld gps is all I use. It even has temp gauge.

I had the HB 565.... real good for the money but was hard for me to see it at times in bright sun...I now have the HB 586c but haven't been able to use yet. I hoping the color will help me see it in the sun.
