ok everybody knows how high the rivers have been this year. i duck hunt all up and down the white and cache rivers. during huntin season i scope out where the river goes out. most of the time its a slough or small lake of some sort. im not sure of the names of most, but runnin the river there is several. if its not posted i fishem. millers lake moores lake rainbow ,goose. lots of these down at claredon. i was in the basin at devalls bluff. there you have it go get'em![]()
If it will hold cornmeal it's big enough for me !!!!!!!!!
Rainbow, Goose, Miller, Moore's, Burnt bayou and Straight lake are all located in the cache River Refuge outside of Devall's Bluff. All offer "Excellent" crappie fishing depending on the river level.
One of my more favorite spots to fish!!!!! But be prepared for the nastiest of nasty mosquito popoulations you have ever seen in the summer, the wooliest of wooly looking environments at daybreak, some of the strangest noises you've ever heard and the Ivory Bill Woodpecker!
After all of that, there are several 2 and 3lb er's in those White River filled oxbows.

Not only that.....in 'The Grail Bird-The Story of the Hunt for the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker', the author said one of the main reasons they didn't hunt for the bird in the spring and summer was they were afraid of the cottonmouths.:D.
I don't know about the big crappie down there, but we were catfishing and noticed a squirrel trying to pick a nut off of a low hangin twig over the water. The squirrel got almost down to the nut and his weight had caused the twig to sag down to the waters surface when a bass swirled up and ate him whole.
In a little bit, the bass came back up and set another nut on the end of the twig:D
You ain't right! LOL.......
