I saw you got famous on the main board. It is always amusing when a new guy starts that conversation. I am sorry that it was at your expense.
I have drug chains on the White River while trout fishing. But, I am just now learning about moving around while crappie fishing.
One of the best crappie fishermen we have pulls a chain in the wind (CEB). I know he would not do anything he felt would mess up a fishing hole. So, it has some merit with me. I have a 5 gallon bucket with a 2" hole in it that I use to slow down with.
I can't wait till it warms up a little so I can start pulling my cranks around. I don't worry about slowing down then.

I use drift socks and chains---sometimes together. In most of the places I use chains, there isn't structure to be damaged. I use drift socks mostly in deeper water.

Chains and yo-yo will sure get'um stirred up.:D

I saw all that too! :D Some of those folks are plum anal 'bout their ideas. There are places to use chains and places for drift socks. I use both.
