I fished there today. water was 47 when I got there at 7:30 and 53 at 2:00 when I left. Caught 2 small ones on red/chart tube jig and 2 more small ones on an orange/pink tube jig.

Well The lake is getting right, I was out there bass fishing today, and I found 58 degree water, the bass tore it up. I caught several 3,4,5,6, pounders and one 8-1/2 pounder today. The crappie fisherman using yo yos at night are having all the luck, they r wearing them out. I feel like the locals have the advantage in the upcoming tourny. I will be willing to guess that the winning stringer will average better than a 2-1/4 pound average.

Bobber it was good to meet you and that 'pro guide' you had in the boat with you. I wanted to toss her in the cooler and take her home to momma. :D

Conway is one of those lakes that is hard to predict. I'm not sure why, but I think it has to do with how shallow and how habitat filled it is and how quickly the temperature can change.

I think the person that will win, whether local or not, is going to be the one willing to try every trick in the book to put fish in the boat. We have some excellent local fishermen that are more than capable of winning, but we also have some legendary folks coming to fish here as well.

My best guess as to winning weight? Oh that's a hard one.... 16lbs... even.:D

I was out on Conway yesterday (3/6) AM around the Dix creek area. That place looks great, but its the first time there for me and I didn't have any luck. I was mostly bass fishing and have only one bite. Saw lots of yo-yos out, but only a few with any fish. Water temps were 49-51 deg surface.
Slabntaters, I was wondering where you found that warm water on Conway? Those bass are exactly what I am trying to find right now and would certainly appreciate any tips you have. Sounds like you are doing something really right! As a relatively new guy to the whole freshwater fishing game, I will take any help I can get. Thanks.

It was good to meet you too! The only problem with my pro guide was she isn't real good with a fillet knife

I am usually very tight lipped about my bass fishing since I fish in the local bass club, but since you are new to the area and you are trying to get a start I will loosen up a little, I was in the back of peirce creek, the water is really shallow and warms really fast on sunny days, and its the first place in late winter and early spring to load up with bass.

Since I'm laid up right now and can't fish ....it leaves it open for anyone to win :D....I'll be pulling for one of our C.C locals and hope to make the weigh-in to see the catches and meet a few more folks from C.C

Good job on the bass....I sure have been wishing I could be out fishing with the weather we've had the last several days....post a picture of some of those hogs if you get a chance.
