    Default Lake Hamilton catch

Some of you know I used to guide on Lake Hamilton about 3 years ago and since then have been focusing on Greeson. Well, I'm back on Hamilton now. The past few weeks has been an experience. All of our old spots are mostly gone. But, I have been able to find some cover and catch some fish. I will definitely be doing some habitat work to build this lake back up. I also hope to spend a little more time on other species like stripers, walleye and maybe even catfish. Here's some of the recent catches.

    Darryl,

Is the fishing any good during and after the draw down? I hear that it gets real low, so that people can work on the docks.

Great looking catches there, Jerry. Good job.

Will you not be guiding on Greeson anymore or just working Hamilton more?

I think your question is to Darryl, and not Jerry.

I think you're right, Joe. I'm so mixed up. My apologies. I had a rough day today and I think my brain is still missing on at least one cylinder.

Falling water can definitely slow the bite. However, they are dropping it slowly so it hasn't shut them off. After the drawdown it should be good since it will concentrate both the fish and bait fish. Plus, they are only dropping it five foot this year which is normal. Last year they dropped it nine foot and that was really low.

I will treat Lake Hamilton as my primary lake but I will still trailer my boat out to Greeson to fish when I want to. I've been living in my camper out at Greeson for some time now and I am moving back into my condo in Hot Springs. It's nice getting back to adult-sized plumbing, lol.
