Spoke with the principal......got approval. We've just got to work out some details regarding permission slips, life jackets, which days, etc.

Ok, I understand on the shallow stuff. I just thought I would throw it out there. Let me know if you need any more places to get bamboo and I will see what I can do.

Thought I'd give an update.

We've collected somewhere between 60-80 buckets so far. The principal is excited about the project. He wishes he could watch us put them in the lake once we get them built. He wants to make sure we get pictures and possibly a write up to the local papers.

Does anyone think that 3 gallon buckets would work instead of 5 gallon buckets? I think they would hold enough concrete, if you filled them completely full. Thoughts? Cause if we can use 3 gallon buckets too, that would speed up the process of gathering buckets. (The cafeteria gets strawberries in 3 gallon buckets.)

We're gonna start building jigs tomorrow. They will hold the 'boo buckets while the concrete sets up. We don't want any of these falling over while we make them!

Agri, Ive used the 3 gallon icing buckets and they work fine. I actually prefer them. Due to the shorter profile, you get a bit more spread on the bamboo limbs. They hold plenty of weight. Some of mine are in 30 feet of water that does have current at times. Still standing tall after a year.

I also get 3 gallon icing buckets often. I agree that you'll get more spread and a little less height this way. Ideal for some of the more shallow lakes.

Thanks for letting me know the 3 gallon buckets will work. Should be getting the 'crete delivered soon.

Here's some pictures of the bamboo patch we're going to start cutting from. Then when/if we run out here, I've had a few people tell me where there's more. Pictures can't show how much 'boo is really here.

Any idea when you plan to drop them? If it's on a Saturday, I may make the drive up to help, if you need any.
