Thanks for the report. That is such a pretty lake! I like the way it is fairly remote and is not overrun with people.
I have not been back there since labor day last year. I admit that I don't know much about the lake, but in my retirement, maybe I'll get to know it better.
I am encouraged that the crappie biting even though a little on the small side. I went twice to Ouachita this week-end and have yet to boat a crappie. We still accomplished a lot by placing several tops for the upcoming fall feed.
On Nimrod, do the crappie favor a particular area in the spring? I remember a major inlet on the south bank with a beautiful sheer rock wall on the east side that looks like it would be outstanding. I never made it to the upper reaches of the lake and I would imagine they would tend to concentrate there for the spawn.
One other thing; I like the fact that certain brush piles have been placed in the lake and even numbered on the local maps. That really helps people like me that come up looking to pick up a few specks and not really knowing the first place to go.
Thanks for the report. Keep us posted. Might just meet up with you one day.
