Default Batesville question

Will be in Batesville later this month and hope to crappie fish a hour or two while there. Anyone know if there's a public pier near the lock and dam or, if not, a deeper pool within casting distance of the bank? Hate it when I drive around hunting a fishing spot for two hours and end up with one minute to fish. Thanks.

There is a side walk on the south side of the river just below the dam that you can fish from if the water is not too high. With the spring floods we had they are still releasing water from the lake north of here so the river has been pretty high all summer.

There used to be a pool of water between the lock and the bank which was out of the current which you could fish. I frankly don't know if it's still there since they did all the work to put in the generator.

Also there may be a public pier on Simpson or Ramsey Slough on the south side of the bridge between the bridge and the deserted quickie mart (west side of highway and public ramp there as well.

Dang...thanks for the correction Creekslick. I'd hate to wander around Arkansas looking for the perfect casket! I guess I could crappie fish while I was there

Batesville Indiana is the main office of the casket company. They must just like the name.
