Default Lake Ouachita 9 Nov

Hey all,

Well i went to Crystal Springs on Lake Ouachita today didn't catch anything. First of all i couldn't find any bait shops open so i couldn't use minnows! very disappointed in that. I just don't have much faith in using jigs spider rigging. Never Crappie fished there so i was fishing blind. I went to where we bream fish, we pick up crappie now and then. water temp was 60-62. I was searching for some brush between about 20-30fow. all i found was hydrilla weeds. i wore my battery plum down trollin around lookin for the elusive brush piles. guess i could make some brush and drop-em where i want um. hooked one bass. that was it for me. guess it will take a few more tries and some patients.
All that aside WOW was it nice on the lake this morning!!! Just Beautiful. water like glass, trees all colored up. that was worth the trip.
Think i am going up to Gold Creek in the morning.

Fetmo

Well, Fetmo, the weather was great, but the lake was falling like a ROCK! When that happens, the bite will fall as well.

Even though I live 15 miles south of Crystal, I actually fish Twin Creeks most of the time. The water is diverse and the winds are better than if you venture out into the 'big water' past the Crystal Shoot.

I caught a few good ones last week when the water was steady and high. Caught 'em over brush on the channels at a whopping 18-22 feet deep with No. 4 minnows

The bait shop at Twin Creeks is open later in the morning these days, so if you want a "daylight jump," you 'd better get your minnows from Trader Bills the night before and have them put in two bags. I never have any trouble that way. They are open until 9pm Monday through Saturday.

Better luck next time, buddy.

AJ

By the looks of the trees in the background, it looks like it was falling fast. Those dark marks are wet marks that have not even dried out. Looks to have lost a foot quickly.
