Thread: Saguaro Lake 4/19/2010

Went up to Saguaro Lake today.Talked to some guys that live on thier boats there at the marina.They were talking about all the crappie that they have been catching lately.LOL.I showed them a couple of gills and that is what thier crappies were.I was stoked after they were talking,then when I showed these to them,they said are'nt them crappies fun to catch,lol.Millions of them everywhere.Can't wait to eatem up.

I guess I should have read this one before I responded in the Panfish Forum. It answers the questions I asked.

Funny that you say that. I talked to some guys at Canyon saying the same thing one time. They told me they catch tons of crappie up there along the northern shoreline. I like the pics. If I can get motivated today I'll post my pics and report from San Carlos. Thanks for the post. What was the average size on those gills? They all look about the same in the pic. Bet those were tasty!

I started at keeping only 6 inchers,lol.Then moved down to 4 1/2 after about 50 of them,lol.Biggest were about a dozen 6 1/2 inches.Most of them,like about a hundred were 4 1/2 to 5 inches.I kept 57 of them.Got a new recipe to cook them whole.Going to try it out tonight.

I fillet a bunch of them.Gave a few to the neighbor,and the rest get ate tonight,lol.
