Just wondering who remembers the old Virgil Ward Championship Fishing show?
The reason that I am bringing this up is that back in 1978 .. ish I helped to film a show at Plummer's Great Slave lake Lodge and I thought that it might be interesting to try and track down a copy of this tape. I don't think that I was ever in the final cut , but I drove the camera boat.
If anyone has any info that may help track this down I would apprediate the help.
Thanks Ken
I remember Virgil! I watched his show when I was a kid.
I think your best bet would be to contact Dan Galusha who did a documentary on Virgil:

Now that everyone has that old theme song stuck in their head for the rest of the day.He truely was a pioneer.
But if you haven't see him in a while, he has probably gone fishin! Great show
I too remember watching Virgil on TV...seemed like a "reel" nice man.

Sure, I remember watching him. In 1970 or so my dad got a pair of male Brittney Spaniel pups from him. They grew to be real hoss's. Still the biggest Brittney's I've ever seen. My dad and I shot a lot of quail over those two.
I grew up watching his show. Hardly ever missed it.
Boy does that bring back some memories. He promoted Johnson spincast reels. I had to save up and buy a Sabra reel because of watching that show.
I remember that show...always just kinda ran across it as a kid...never really knew when it'd be on ....was always so excited to watch...wasn't too many of those shows back then .....watched it on a fuzzy old console t.v. with an antenna
