    Default Cranks at Sardis

Anybody started pulling cranks at Sardis yet? It's time but I haven't had a chance to get down there over last two weeks.

We took our annual brim chasing trip to Pickwick last week. It ain't crappie fishing but it sure is fun to do once a year. The big bluegills were red hot but we didn't get many shellcrackers this year . Best day was 157 fish weighing just shy of 95 pounds.

Anyway, I'm heading to Sardis tomorrow morning for a little crankbaiting but don't know whether to fish area up around the dam or Holiday???

    Any advice would be appreciated!

I was catching them on cranks in April. You should find some. Good Luck

We pulled for a couplke hours near holliday sat, and caught 1 throwback...

If I were you I'd stay near the dam, or around clear creek....

We didn't tear em up there, but we caught a few.

Yeah, Navy. It was loads of fun. We do a Pickwick trip once each year to get our bream catching fix for the year. Most folks say there are few big bream in Pickwick and don't fish for them. They are hard to catch with the clear water but when you figure it out, it's amazing how big the bream grow ("Tunica sized") there and how thick they are on the beds.

    Default Report on Sardis

I fished cranks for about three hours each day Thursday and Friday. Altogether I caught 19 crappie and six white bass with only three keeper crappie. Best colors were lavendar shad and firetiger. Most of the fish came from cranks running at 14 feet deep in open water along the river channel flats. I didn't catch any fish on cranks running above brush piles.

I caught good fish and better ratio of large to small spider rigging over brushpiles.
