Crank question

Gonna give crank pullin a shot this summer. Have a 2-stroke 90. Does everyone pull with their big motor or trollin motor? Was playin with my handheld gps other day, and couldn't idle any slower than 2.1 mph. with my big motor. I know a 4-stroke is better suited to this method, but I ain't gettin' another motor. What y'all think?

We gonna try it to same 90hp. TM is our opion and turn trollin racks sideways pull from front. Never tried it but everybody says its as fun and productive as trollin.

Get 2-5 gallon buckets. Drill some holes in the bottoms and a couple in the sides for rope handles. tie about 3 feet of rope to each handle then tie them off the
sides of your boat. It will slow you down considerably. I troll with my 90 4 stroker every year.

Yea im worried about foulin out a 2 stroke runnin idle for 6 hrs.

I troll with a 90 2 stroke Yahama and I have used the two bucket method also but this year I have a couple of 24" drift socks that I am going to hang off the sides of the boat. Just be sure to have lots of gas them two strokes like it when they are ideling.

With buckets I could keep mine at 1.5 to 2.0 mph

You can get a trolling plate too, that will solve the problem. Otherwise the buckets or a drift sock should work.

It could be as long as you got some really good batteries, you will have to be running at half to three quarter throttle for a few hours. And depending on wind and boat size it could wipe you out pretty quick.

my 2 cents...

ditto on the trolling motor , can pull either way , but will have to take 2 batteries, have to keep on speed 3 to keep the "wiggle" in the bandits.....

fillet , you might just be hooked after this summer.........

I've never had any fouling probs out of my 50 2 stroke. 2.1 is PLENTY slow IMO. Caught a bunch of fish a 3 MPH last summer...
