Default Large blue catfsh caught on crappie tackle

today. My cousin caught the big fish using a 14ft. b&m pole,
8lb. test line, crappie jig ( size 2 hook) tipped with a minnow.
The fish weighed 49 lbs. He said it took him approx. 35 minutes
to land the fish. This says a lot for light tackle and also the
    fisherman.

WOW! He must have a good drag system on that reel. That might be a line class world record or something!

Well you shatterd my ego. I caught a 15 lb catfish last year while spider rigging with close to the same set-up and I thought I had really done something. Oh well!!! That is really awesome.

Being strictly a light tackle fan I can really appreciate what he has accomplished. Good job and well done.
