Default Neither Demos or Repubs can save us

As oil and gas prices skyrocket, Congress continues to play the blame game. In April 2006, with the Democrats poised to take over Congress with Nancy Pelosi at the helm, she released a statement saying, "With skyrocketing gas prices, it is clear that the American people can no longer afford the Republican Rubber Stamp Congress." She followed that with the commitment, "Democrats have a common sense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging." So has the Democrat's commonsense plan worked? Average gas prices were about $2.50 a gallon at the time. Now they're $4 a gallon and rising. Some crack-down plan.

The above quote is from http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.p...geId=66557&6=7

It's nothing more than the blame game. While Congress on both sides of the fence sticks it to the American People. None of them seem to be in touch with normal Americans. ALL of them only relate to the almighty $$$.

I for one think we should all contact our own Representatives and voice our concerns. Congress listened to the people on the Imigration Act last year.

We should all be sick and tired of Congress doing what they want, and ignoring the needs of the People.

On another note, Taxes are way out of hand and they seem to be wanting more and more vs. using what they have wisely. I think the "Fair Tax" is a viable solution. http://www.fairtax.org/site/PageServer

It high time our Government goes back to work for us.

Who can afford to pay a tax the most? The poor or the rich? Im not poor or rich but if they both pay the same percentage of their income the poor pay the same as the rich.In saying that I know 10% is harder on the poor than 10% on the rich!

I have to laugh whenever someone comes up with Democrat controlled Congress. Dems only have a small majority but the power in Congress is still with the Republicans as long as we have a Rep. President and not enough votes in Congress to override a veto. That is why this Congress has been so ineffective so far. Hopefully after Nov. that will change.

I have a very close friend that is a strong Democrat...He keeps telling me we need change, change ,change...

I reminded him of the fact that in the last 8 years he & his wife have bought 2 homes, 3 new cars, 3 new trucks, a $10,000 four wheeler and is now looking for a boat..

I'm worried about him..Wonder what kind of change he's looking for? Maybe someone here can answer for him because he can't come up with an answer..

We may get more of a change than we bargain for..Don't complain with a full stomach...

We are stuck with what We vote for. If crap runs and We vote for it, crap wins and We end up with crap running the country and our lives are turned to crap in the process. If dunderheads would start voting their primaries and flush out the ones who are crap, then there might eventually be some change for the good. As long as We keep voting in the ones who have been there for 30 to 40 years then what else can we expect. They know they have a God given right to power and We, like mindless robots, keep sending them back time and time again. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over, expecting a different result. sounds like this country is full of nut cases.

This country is pretty much on its way to a different type of government. A more social type or even communistic type government. Too many people dependent on what scraps the government holds over their heads and makes them stand and jump like a dog on its hind legs doing tricks for a treat. These same people are the largest voting block and the ones that keep voting the same ones in, over and over. Then complain that the times are tough. If you stand on your own feet, or even if you need help from government but hate it and are trying to do everything you can to get out from under it, You are the minority. The minority that pays the price for the majority and You are a threat to the government because of your independent thinking. Independence, A FUNNY WORD that our government had as their top priority a couple hundred years ago. Now our country is a hybrid of capitalism/socialism. It will collapse if we keep on our current path.

The gas prices are a perfect example. Congress could order more domestic drilling. The two big powers are at work here. Not Republicans or Democrats but the Oil Industry Heads and the Environmentalist. They send money to both parties to keep everything the same.

The Environmentalist want to keep everything pristine and don't give a crap about whether the U.S. Economy goes into a third world state. As long as everything is clean and green. They are so extreme in their craving for power that they in My opinion are communist, Wanting control over every aspect of your life and using the environment to get it.

The Oil companies, want to keep everything as is because they like making more money for less production. Who doesn't? They like making $140 a barrel. Why would they want to pump more oil to cheapen the price?

The markets are simply a reflecting an attitude of a compulsion to do nothing by the government. Demand outstrips supply but nothing gets done to increase supply so prices go higher to ration supply. A more callous way of saying it would be to say, Run it up till the poor can't buy it. the rich will always be able to get all they want. Dems and Repubs are mostly lawyers and are rich. Why do they do their "duty to service" for such little pay compared to what they were making in the private sector? For power over all of us. They ones who have the power have the resources and the money. If you think of it that way and think about how many of the same ones get put back in over and over, then We are already communist with corporations running the show.

The only thing that has saved us is the constitution. The ones who are up their now would just as soon use it as toilet paper and a supreme court who is overstepping it's bounds.

When you look at what is going on with the inaction and lack of leadership this government is doing on something as simple as their first and most important aspect of government, protecting the interest of the people of the U.S., You see that this inaction is treasonous but the people of this country now are too uneducated to understand and just go along with what their "representatives" are saying. "Its Big Oil", "It's the speculators", "Its the environmentalist". BS!!!!!!!! It is them. They are the ones who make the decisions, They are our leaders. They need to do their jobs and make decisions and lead! But I forget, They don't do that anymore and know they can get away with doing nothing because they know, We The People will continue to put them right back where they are. Must not be as bad as some of us think it is after all.CF

I just paid 4.19 a gallon. It use to be that we the people would be in the streets with our signs protesting. How many of you e mail, call or write your reps? I do quite often. I am sure I am on the "crazy list". I am a Independant populist so as Lou Dobbs say "I have no dog in this fight" as far as partys go. We the people have to get our gov. back before it is to late. The clock is ticking......

We voted for term limits here in arkansas some years back and then the state supreme court decided it was unconstitutional to do so. They overturned it. I went in with the premise that it was state and U.S gov. officials.
