Congrats to the young man!
Wonder how many potential state records ended up on the table? We've all heard stories.
I did have a problem with one thing in the article. It says they have contacted Bas Pro to see if they had any interest in the fish. As a taxidermist, I read about and hear of lots of trophies being stolen or taken illegally. I blame this mostly on groups like BPS, Cabelas, Gander, etc. They have been part of bidding wars for trophy animals that has created a huge black market for book animals. If thieves will steal copper wire from live power lines or cut catalytic converters off vehicles in public parking lots, do you think they would have any qualms kicking in doors at a taxidermy studio to steal a record set of horns or a record fish? I know lots of studios that send trophy horns and such home with the lucky hunter for fear that they will be victims of these human garbage. The only time I want them in my studio is when I'm putting the mount together to send it home. Sorry for the rant, I just hate to see such trophies as this fish end up being commercialized or black market fodder.
