I had posted a few days ago that I was going to make an afternoon trip
to the Sandy Cove pit. Well I am just getting back from that trip.
NOW THE REST OF THE STORY.
Me and my buddie "T" arrived at about 3:30pm Thurs. WE tried fishing
some brush piles and some structure I sank back in April. for about an
hour with no luck. WE then decided to start trolling a 16th ounce
jig with a red and green body. As soon as we did we caught 2 sacalait.
the only problem was they were small. so we went into the middle of the canal where we caught 2 slabs. We fished for another hour trolling catching
4 more sacalait,2 nice bass, and 2- 3lb.plus catfish but as soon as it started
it shut down the water in the pit drains into the G.A.cut in the basin and even though the forecast is for the water to keep dropping it started to
flow back into the pit and shut down the fish bites. I wish we would have
started trolling when we arrived there . I'm sure we would have gotten
a mess of them before the rising water. If you know where the Sandy Cove
pit is then I can tell you that I marked the spot Where we got most of
our bites with a 20oz. coke bottle tied to a tree on the left bank towards
the back of the pit for my brother Deacon who is planning a trip sat.
