Default Another spawnless full moon has come

What a shame that Roosevelt (and our other crappie lakes) has aparently not had a crappie spawn this year. With all the new water, a HUGE shad spawn and around 20 square miles of newly flooded timber, conditions seemed perfect for a fish explosion. While bass, and carp are spawning like crazy reports from anyone for crappie have been 1 or 2 fish a day. Thats just horrible for these lakes. I can only hope they all spawned in secret and we all just missed it. I dont think it likley though as thousands have been out chasing them. A few males are still being caught near shore but they don't look post spawn and they have been seen jumping. I don't remember ever seing a crappie jump! Must be all that misplaced testosterone.

I went to the Roosevelt Marina site. All that new water has really created some unique situations. Camp ground under water, launch ramp under water. I see the lake is almost 21,000 acreas. Larger than most lakes in NC., although Kerr reservoir is 50,000 acres and Lake Norman close to where I live is over 32,000 acres. It is hard for me to visualize lake Norman at 30% capacity as Roosevelt was several years ago. Talk about peeved home pwners. I hope your crappie have a good spawn. It is going to take a lot of fish to fill up all that new water.
