I was talking to the owner of the local tackle shop about rod warranties and we got to wondering if anyone ever accidently died from being impaled on their broken fishing rod while fishing. We figured that, at the least, the relatives would still be able get the rod replaced under the warranty.
And that's my cheerful contribution to Mom's day.:D

Know a guy who lost a eye from a broken fishing rod when he was fishing for blue fish. He's OK now and still fishes, never got the rod replaced.
I've seen pictures of a couple of graphite rods that were supposedly hit by lightning...all that was left was a web of graphite threads and the handle. Supposedly one of the guys died.

How about the "ugly stick" commericial where the wife puts his rod in the garbage disposial. I bet she would like to use deadly force on her husband.:rolleyes:
