I would not restore them. If you ever wanted to sell them, they are worth more as is.
I ended up being given about 25 old lures from my dad and grandpas days of fishing as a gift last year. Some date back to the 40's, and all are unique to me cause my grandpa used them in our old cabin back when he was my age (old cranks, topwaters, etc..).
I want to frame them and hang em inside my house. Has anyone ever framed lures before and know how to restore their natural color? Anyone who knows how to do this or has done this please post.
Thanks
Luke

Check out this site. http://www.nflcc.org/
At their shows & meeting they have lures on display. Be careful though, collecting old lures & reels can become addictive.

Dont restore them! they are part of your family history! Eash mark amd scar on those old plugs tells its own story. Restoring the lures would be like erasing part of 3 generations memories what you could do is to rind the replicas and fram them also and display them side by side with the oldies.

Here is an interesting site I ran across the other day. The auction is over but still fun to look at the old lures.

Crappie fishing is my lighthouse of sanity in an insane world,
It keeps me from crashing on the rocky shores of everyday life.
Crappie.com is my beacon of light!
Please do not restore them. What you have is a family fishing heritage, three generations.

My dad took an old 2 ft deep crock pot, the really old and thick walled kind, mounted a felt covered board about 3 inches from the top of the crock, layed out some of his old lures and reels and then put a piece of circle cut glass over the top of it to where it sticks out about 2-3 inches on each side and uses it as an end-table. Looks pretty neat every time you set your glass down and see all those old plugs and spoons.
