    Default Ticks

I went mushroom hunting the other day and was bombarded with those nasty little ticks. Here in Illinois we have Deer Ticks and or Seed Ticks and the Wood Ticks. Deer ticks for me are the very worst. I was wondering what other people do or how do they keep those nasty ticks off. They simply take the fun out of hunting anything. I do a lot of squirrel hunting with my dog in the fall but i don't even consider going hunting until after the first hard frost. I knew a man that got Lime disease, it's not something anybody want's to get. thanks

Man ticks are my most hated thing on earth Them and those bloodsuckers are worthless. Last year at turkey camp it was almost funny how many ticks were out, at a certain point I just got tired of picking them off.

I spray my pants with Deep Woods Off, it does fair job of keeping them off.

Deet is supposed to be the main thing to use. Dad had/has Rocky Mtn. Spotted Fever and he uses 100% Deet a whole lot. Seems to work for him. Spotted fever is something that you just can't get over so I try to protect myself more after seeing what he's gone through.

DO NOT WEAR WHITE SOCKS!! They love white! Animals have white hair on their underside and ticks actively search for white. Also, where tall boots, almost up to your knee, that lace up. Tuck pants into the boots and lace them tightly. And finally, use deep woods off on all clothing! It also helps to tape your sleeve cuffs tightly to your wrists and wear a belt with shirt tucked into pants.

I use a two-pronged attack. I use Permethrin on my clothes and Deep Woods Off on my skin. Ticks don't have a chance with that combo.

Used to have a buddy slightly older than i, who sprayed his clothing with Flying Insect Spray before putting them on. Seemed to work for him, but he's since passed away. May have been the victim of his own spraying.
