    Thumbs up basin slabs

I got a report that many sacalait(crappie) are being caught on jigs
6 feet deep around cypress trees in an area called the south flats
around Butte Larose La. It's a short boat ride from the private landings
across from the flats along the levee road. grab a pole and I'll save
    you a spot.

    SacalaitSteve,
I saw your post about the bandits. Is this a crank bait? It would seem to me this would be a good stained water bait, if it is a crankbait, due to the vibrations it would make.
On my way to work this morning I counted 12 boats being trailered toward the basin. The only bad thing about that is none were yours or mine.
I can't leave now; They fixen to turn on.

I only wish I could take you up on that offer. We're not catching much here in Northwest LA, they're scattered and suspended. One of my buddies caught 10 yesterday, and that's the best any of us have done lately. It's good to have another LA fisherman on the boards, hope you do well on your trip. We actually have more South LA crappie.com members than from North LA, so you should be able to get some good local reports on sacalait in your area. Be sure to leave us a post on how you did. Welcome again, and good luck in the South Flats!

I was a guest in a bass tournament sat. I didn't fish sacalait although
I did see a few boats that were. we took 3rd place with 10lbs. with a 5 fish
limit .We actually caught 3 limits to cull from.

I heard you are going after the slabs this coming Thursday afternoon.
You going to the Sandy Cove pit? Basin is 8.3ft. This is drag your boat level.
I finnaly got the new Fish finder in my 12' sac-a-lait boat. I think I will try it out this coming Saturday. I have 2 pallet structures and a oak tree branch structure I need to sink. Let me know what you catch and where. I will sink them in that area.
I can't leave now; They fixen to turn on.

I sure will. Yes the sandy cove pit is the plan. At 8ft. I can still troll in
through the cut but the way the water is dropping Thurs. may be to low
I'm counting on the structure I sunk back in april after the spawn. If not
I'm sure to catch them trolling the ridges in the 15 ft. depths. I will post
    my results Fri.

Don't forget to try next to the weed beds in deeper water. In the afternoon they will probably come out the deeper water next to the weed edges.
Leave me a few for Saturday and try to let "T" catch a few. But watch him close. You know he'll try to keep anything. (HA!)
