Default Warning to parents- Singulair and Zyrtec

It was no surprize to me when I heard the news today that the FDA is looking into a possible link of the drug, Singulair, in teen suicides. Singulair, made by Merck may be directly responsible for suicides and severe emotional issues in children and teens. Normally used to treat asthma and allergies, it's side effects have been horrible.

As for my not being surprised I have had my own problems at home with a similar drug called Zyrtec. Today I had to return to my son's Dr with a Jeckle and Hyde horror story and mystery pains in my 2 year old, that result in extreme fits of screaming and uncontrolled behavior, possibly due to pain. This after my wife's research into the drug zyrtec used to treat allergies. My son had behaved so insanely we were fearing for his well being this week. After completing a heavy script of Zyvox after surgery, he was back on Zyrtec and in 24 hours he was a home wrecking maniac. We found out we aren't alone, other parents are now reporting the frightening side effects in their children and taking them off Zyrtec.

Sadly pediatricians are just now discovering this evil child side effect and haven't come up with firm resolution except to take them off the med. We took Steven off the Zyrtec 2 days ago and hes his old self again, content and quiet. He still struggles with random pain, but otherwise is ok (this is tough when your only 2).

Beware- doctors have been handing out Zyrtec like candy in recent years. It's done so well that it's now over the counter, unleashing an unforeseen hell in the home.

Thanks for the heads up. Theres so many drugs out there that are like hat.
Last month the place I get mine did not have enough of my pain pills. But had the same thing but made by someone else.
Let me tell you after talking it for 11 days I thought I was going to die. And for few days would have been better off.
The fillers in them were different and sure mess you up bad.
So glad you were watching your son and seen what it was doing to him. Good luck.

Wow! Thank you SO much for passing on the info.
My son has been taking Singulair for a little over a year now and we've been feeling like we were spiraling downhill with him. We never thought about an asthma med causing those issues.
I went to the link you posted about Zyrtec and looked up Singulair. The side affects described my son to a Tee. We will take him off the Singulair and look for something else to take it's place if his asthma gets out of control.
    Thanks again!!

    Default Zyrtec update

I was looking into generic names for Zyrtec.

"Cetirizine" is one thats being sold as well, beware this name.
