That's the question that keeps me from hard water fishing... even though most every body of water in my neck of the woods freezes over. With all the ups and downs our temps have taken this winter, I just don't trust that there aren't a ton of cracks and bubbles and stuff where a feller could fall through and come to a very chilly end.

I drill holes every few feet out. The ice gets thicker, i keep on going. Thinner, i turn around and try somewhere else. But if you have a fear, stay off the ice. The noise will drive you too tears. When its making ice, its loud out there.

Looks like a great day! You Should take that a step further and grill out on the ice. (Unless that's what you were doing?) Like how Dad does the duck blinds, he'll sit back and work the Coleman camp grill and get deer sausage, etc... fired up and work some magic on his calls. He might pick up his S&W and whack a duck or two but I think he'd rather just sit back and laugh and tell a story.
"Mister, I love the way you wear that hat."
    "You don't know nothin'."
