Hey Jerry looks like the size at Greeson is really improving. Hope to catch some big bellied sows in April. Nice catch.
One of me "crew" this morning winched up this 16.5-inch female white crappie that weighed 2-pounds, 6-ounces:
"It's going on the wall"!
We had another one this morning that was 2-pounds even and several other decent fish:
Yesterday, with some of the same crew members we had a black crappie and a white crappie that were each 2-pounds, 1-ounce, one that was 2-pounds even and one that was 1-pound, 14-ounces. With the dinks, bream and suicides we kept thirty-two.
I guess they've just been hunkered down in all the Bamboo Crappie Condos we put in the lake in the last few years and pigging out on the abundance of threadfin shad in the lake. It used to be unusual to catch a crappie over 2-pounds but they've been showing up real regular here lately.

I am new to this site, and this may be a stupid question, but is that a Northern Pike on the stringer in that bottom photo? I live in Fayetteville, and fish Beaver Lake, and I am sure that there are not any of those in Beaver. Only time I have seen them is in Canada while smallmouth fishing.
Pickeral, brother. There are a few northerns in Lake Greeson but we rarely catch them and they are small.Originally Posted by grits and gravy

Hey Grits and Gravy:
I believe it's a Grass Pickerel, which is a close relative to a Northern Pike.
Welcome to Crappie.com!
Thanks.
I have been crappie fishing on Beaver Lake for about 8 years and usually find some fish, but alot of times it can be a struggle. I was looking for somewhere to find more information about fishing, and stummbled upon this site. I used to fish Greeson about 25 years ago. My dad would take me out there and we did a lot of bass fishing. But I remember once when the bass were not biting, we starting flipping tube jigs around brush and we ended up catching a big mess of crappie. I still love to bass fish, but I think that crappie fishing has taken over as my favorite type of fishing.
Those are sure enough nice ones!
