Talking New to crappie & Crappie.com

I'm a bass angler at heart but lately, I've decided to branch out more and start learning to fish for crappie. I fish on Beaver Lake, AR most of the time with my fishing buddy and when it comes to bass fishing, that's a tough lake. So when the bite slows down for bass, I'll start picking up my ultralights and fishing for crappie.

So here is what I've learned so far from reading posts here:

    - They are called "papermouth" because of their delicate mouth
    - They eat, small shiners, bug imitating jigs, tube jigs
    - Use ultralight gear and no more than 6lb line
    - Bobbers are optional depending on bait type
    - Brush piles & docks are the staple for places to find crappie
    - They are good eating! (that's my favorite part)

Any tips you guys have for a newcomer to a great sport, feel free to share. I look forward to becoming a new member to Crappie.com too!:D

Welcome from another Tennessean...You have come to the right place for crappie information....
But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Welcome Ozark. You probably already know this from bass fishing but nothing beats time on the water locating the fish. Be persistant and the fish will come. Post up any questions you have and these guys will save you tons of trial and error time.

    Welcome from Fla.
I use at least 8lb just for that occasional big catfish/bass.
