I spent a few years at SU (96-99). I always wondered if there was any good fishing around there. I don't remember the name of the lake, but I do remember there was talks of lead.
Your not fishing, unless your crappie fishing!

The lake you are referring to is Onondaga lake. This lake is visable to the north of the "SU Hill" I beleive at one time it was considered the 3rd most polluted lake in the country and they did not even want you boating on it much less fishing in it :S. They have cleaned it up though in recent years and I think you can now fish on it (catch and release only).

Good Lakes in the area to fish on are Oneida lake and the other Finger Lakes

Lots and lots of good fishing all over Central NY. Onondaga Lake has some huge bass, just don't eat them. The water still isn't clean enough for them to allow swimming. Once you get away from that lake, all the other lakes, ponds, and rivers around here offer excellent fishing for most any species of fish you like to go after.
