I work with a fella that raises 'em and sells 'em to pond owners. I think his grew almost that fast in the first year. That's not too bad for Indiana. I'd say the info you're getting is right on the mark for southern locations.
Been looking at stocking my pond with these - 14 inches in the first year when feed well. I seen a mount at a boat show of the Hy Tech Speck they said it was right at 7 pounds - it was huge. Anyone have these in there pond?

Hey...jerk...your bobber's under!!!
I wouldn't reccomend any Hybrid fish for ponds! The bream called GA GIANT will ruin a pond after the first 2 years. These fish reproduce to an overpopulation of the red eye bream which are very small. I have also seen them reproduce to small coppernoses without tails. As for the Specks, he was feeding them a special algae to produce the rapid growth.
put 500 in this year was told to wait 2-3 years and stock stripes the get big but still have a small mouth
