Thumbs up Murray Striper Report 9/27/07

Headed down to Murray Wednesday afternoon. Lake was smooth and plenty of boats out. We trolled till 1:AM Thursday morning using a deep diving 8 inch silver rapala. Caught four stripers at a depth of 40-48 feet. Three were keepers from 21 inches to 27 inches. Moved over to the towers and downlined till daylight. Caught nine more stripers and kept two that were 21 inches. Hung one 10+lb gar and cut him loose. Water temp was 80 degrees. Very pleasant on the lake all night.

Went out on Tuesday and fished from 6:30 to 11:00 PM and we caught 8. All were keepers. Bite was steady on freelines and downlines between 15 to 35'. Ran out of bait or we would have caught more. Used up three dozen. Fish hit steady the entire time. We also caught a giant gar on a freeline. Deeper bait seemed to die pretty fast. Also lots of threadfin shad along the shore up on top. Won't be long until they are schooling.
