    Default Wylie Saturday night.

Met up with Bambam and Carl at the Ebenezer park landing which seems to be about all the ramps you can find these days. We did a lot of looking around for any signs of bait or action and there was very little in that way to look at. Ran all the way up to Crowders and searched the whole creek with nothing on the radar but emptiness. Looked all the way back out to the main channel marking nothing. Headed back south and found a small creek where we marked a big brush pile with a few fish hanging around and decided to set up nearby and try to draw some bait. It was far from a gang buster night but we caught fish pretty often all night with the majority of them being white pearch of course. "released" all of the pearch and released probably 8 or so baby crappies. I was relieved to see baby sized crappie again in any numbers especially with the ever lurking pearch menace that is gripping the lake. Kept 16 crappie for the night all of which were in the 3/4 to a lb category except for three that were all in the 1 1/2 plus range. Fended off pearch bites all night and wound up going through 12 dozen minnows to catch 16 keeper crappie. That is insane. Was nice to be back out again and to have a motor that runs with no problems and that drinks a lot less gas. Water was 81.4 degrees and we were fishing 33' of water catching most fish 10-12 feet down.

Don't ya hate that? I hate when there are nights like that, but it just means everything is in the top levels of the water column.
