    Default Underwater Crappie biting jigs

    Hi All,

I went out a couple weeks ago to try and get some underwater footage of crappie biting jigs tubes and plastic minnows. I was lucky enough to boat a number of fish and a couple 11". Any advice on trying to catch crappie in the shallow (without spooking them)? Also, I noticed that the crappie were schooling up only on the north shorelines of this lake... any thoughts on that?

    Hope you enjoy the video!

Well, I just finished up editing another crappie fishing video. I had some ups and downs this past weekend with my outboard, but managed to catch some crappie while trolling with planer boards. I tried fishing a river system near me (St. Croix River, WI), but have not fished river systems for crappie very often. Would like to hear from anyone about how they would go about fishing a river system.

    Hope you enjoy the video!

I longline troll in shallow what while they are in here. Once summer gets here shallow water is not for crappie! However spring and fall I use 1/32 Oz Roadrunners mostly and pull them behind my boat using my troll motor going like .4 to .8 MPH! Have been doing this since the late 1970's and it works for me!

My tip for shallow crappie would be to use a fixed bobber (thill) that's really light. Cast past your target and reel the jig or minnow and bobber to the target slowly. I tear them up in the spring and fall in Illinois when they come up shallow with this technique. When jig fishing, just pop the slack in your line to give it some action.

A little late with this video, but hope everyone had a great fourth! Managed to boat a few crappie despite all the boat traffic on the holiday. Hope you enjoy the video!

    Thanks for watching!
