Much discussion had been about
this 5,800 acre lake.
Believe it to be more of swamp, low land
fed, possible some springs.
Not real deep, somewhat mucky (silt) with
small holes, depressions hear/there
Enormous flats varying only 1 - 4 ft deep.
The Crappie (spec's) i found and fileted in this lake "are the best i have found in state of Florida" bar none.
The meat is absoultely white/clean and
firm. Found no punctured skins, scuffed
bodies. Anything over 12" had tremendous shoulders. Found that when
they strike - you have no idea if its a
Cat - Gar - Bass or Crappie. They hit
with such force you thing your up on
Grenada fishing for the 3 lb plus girls.
Granted this a very challenging lake but
also very rewarding when they bite.
Attached pictures are of 9 fish being
fileted - they weighed in 12 lbs, 9.5 oz
and its better yet. These were not
sorted prior to picture. I threw them up
on table.
It is known fact and I have seen pictures
of a Guide Trip done in June 11th, 2013,
that 3 people took 68 keeper fish in
3 1/2 hrs - ranging in weight from 1lb
8.0 oz to 2 lbs. 4.0 oz.
Just my thoughts - i'm for going at it
one more time on the 2016 schedule.
Tournament wise we weighed in heavier
fish this year than 2014 -
As stated on our e-mail site - WE FCC
board welcome your thoughts & feelings.
I think we should fish Newnan again next year as long as the water levels don't drop anymore. The heat was the biggest issue. Is there any way the tournament times can be adjusted for the months of June and July? Maybe change the start time to 6:30 am and weigh in at 2:30 pm.
