    Default Drift / Drag Chain?

What size and length is everyone using for chains when trolling (spider rigging)? This is my technique to learn this year and I'm gearing up.

5 foot 3/8 chain on a 50 foot rope. more rope you let out the slower you go. I have one for each side of the boat to keep going straight. Hope this helps.

Where is best place to buy a 3/8 chain? I don't think they have one that big at Lowes or Home Depot.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but could someone explain how to do this? Is chain dragging on bottom of lake? What about getting hung up?

Yes, the chain is dragging on the bottom of the lake. It let's you fish downwind without going too fast. Can't comment on the hang ups since I haven't done it yet but there are enough people doing it that it can't be much of a problem.

Sometimes they will hang up but most of the time they slip thru sure not going to hang up like a drift sock. The more rope you let out the slower you will go.
