Had a chance to take my 6 yo out ice fishing for his first time on President's Day. He has been begging me to take him for a while. We weren't disappointed. It was a great couple hours on the hard water that I will never forget. He was hooked after the first fish. "Ice fishing is AWESOME!!!" We caught several bluegill, two small largemouth and around 8 crappie in a very short amount of time.

Since it was last minute, we did have problems finding live bait. Everyone was sold out or not carrying any this time of year. We ended up running short on time so I pulled out the glittery green crappie nibbles and rolled with that hoping we would catch at least one or two. Turns out they were hungry and aggressive. Most of the fish were caught from 5-8ft in 10ft of water. We were using a blue hexi fly and an orange arnold fairy jig tipped with a glittery green nibble. I hope to take him out at least one more time this season and maybe I can drag his 9 yo brother along. Happy fishing and Tight Lines.

The only thing bad about teaching them to fish is when they old enough to drive now you have to buy a truck and a boat for him. Great pics !

These are moments that both of you will remember for a lifetime. "Teach your kids to fish and hunt and you won't have to hunt them on the streets when they are grown". Be safe and good luck fishing
