The first picture is of the greatest crappie fisherman ever. He was years ahead of his time as an entrepreneur. This photo is from around 1951 when he converted an old chicken house into a bait shop and minnow farm. Fishing was his passion and this was a way he could always be close to it. He was my Daddy; everybody just called him "Slim" and knew they could always find good "info" at the Minnow Farm.

The second is of a nice crappie catch by some guys that he had "guided" to one of his honey holes. The picture is from 1955 near B.B. Comer Bridge in Scottsboro.

I like the old Minnow truck. Are you still around Scottsboro?

No, I live in Madison now. I still try to fish the lake about once a week. Of course I am a little behind because of this cold weather.

I have bought minnows many times from that place and still do sometimes. Best minnows and in the coldest water I have seen anywhere. The building is just about all collapsed now, sad to see. Thanks for posting.

Great story about your dad. Thank you for sharing. This is a link about others who were mentored by their dad, grandfather, mother or someone else. It is a great read for those who are new or might have missed it.
