    Default Lake Arbuckle results, Saturday 20th, 2014


    September 20, 2014

    Lake Arbuckle
    Park ramp
    Frostproof, Fl.

    Temp in mid 70's, 7am, by 1pm reached
    84. Rain was word of the day, start Fri.
    1:30pm, cold front stalled over Arbuckle
    and stayed till 1:30pm Saturday - Rain &
    and more rain. Estimates of 5 1/2" fell on Lk in 24 hrs.
    Water temp 78.8 down 10 deg. from Fri.
    Water really stirred up from wind & rain,
    very dirty looking making for difficult bite.
    Bara pressure 29:92 7am, climbed to high
    29:99 by 11am before starting to drop.
    Wind out of Northwest 3- 9 mph, by 10am was 11 - 14 gusting to 16 mph,
    good looking white caps and big rollers.

    Nine (9) teams in full rain gear went after
    the big ones that Arbuckle is noted for.

    One (1) position paid for "Big Fish"

    1st: Rick Hartsock
    1 lb 7.5 oz.

    Two (2) positions paid for "7 fish catch
    weight"

    1st. John Peyton / Mike Herbst
    7 lbs. 1.5 oz

    2nd: Harold McGhee / Dave Troester
    6 lbs. 3.0 oz

    1st place team fished Wally Marshall rods
    spider rigging, minnow tipped working
    Skipppers Jigs - pink, red & chartruse,
    along with Arkie, Shineee Hineee jigs,
    white head, silver body, white tail.
    fishing 7 - 9 ft water.

    2nd place team spider rigged, minnow
    tipped, Deep-South rods using Ron's zip
    jigs yellow, orange, & hot pink along with
    Crappie Hooker hot pink - orange & red ice jigs - fishing 3.5 - 5.5 depth.

    Catch weight this year was down in
    excess of 2 lb total wgt to last year,
    belived to be the heavy rain and mixed
    weather past week - as prefishing Labor
    Day weekend - catches were in in the
    high 8 - 9 3/4 lbs for 7 fish.
    Fish were completely scattered with no
    depth of consistency found anywhere.
    Quality fish could be close to surface in
    8-9 ft water or in 3-4 ft water on top
    or down deep.
