I prefer jigheads with larger hooks. I mostly use 1/16 with a #2 gold hook.

    Default Jigs

I mostly use 1/32 but use 1/16 alot also. I mold my own jigs and use #4 hooks on all of them, tube or hair jig.

I mostly use #4 on everything from 1/32 to 1/4, but I also have #6 and #8 available in all sizes too. I guess I like #6 too. Also if I am tying jigs with the large sizes heads like 1/8 and 1/4 and small hook I usually use hair type.

I have been tying myself some 1/32 oz. with #8 and #6 hooks for tiny baits with chenille body for next spring, but the #8 don't leave much room for a body, LOL!

To make clear my answer normally I use the #4 with all sizes for myself at least most of the time.

Wink most of the time .....

I use 1/16oz jigheads/jigs. Occasionally, I will drop down to 1/32oz (for a slower fall rate/plastic body size). I prefer a #2 hook, because it allows me to put on plastic bodies/tubes/grubs from 1" to 2.5", and still have sufficient gap between hook point & the top of the plastic, for a good hookup. With hair/feather/fiber bodied jigs (pre-tied), I'm not quite as adamant about them having as large a hook ... since most of them are "open/exposed hook" jigs. (most all of my "jigheads", that I use for plastic bodies, are "weedless" jigheads ... what I consider as "non-exposed hook" types) ... cp
