Closet finish in FCC tournament history

14 teams entered event and Lake Monroe was not going to give up fish without a
windy fight. Winds changed directions 4
times, and ran from 3.5 mph - 12 mph, gusting to 16 mph on 9,406 acres of water with average depth of 6 - 7 ft.
Creating some interesting white caps
and high roller waves. Winning teams
all spider rigged, minnow tipped jigs and
were throwing chain for stability, control
and slowing of boat. Fish were found in
6-6.5 ft depth biting the best win bara.
pressure was 30.05 -30.06, 8:45-11:50
am.
First, second & third place teams fished
with Wally Marshall rods, using several
variations of minnow tipped jigs. (Ron's
zip: hot pink, orange, butterscotch)
(Skipper jigs: blue/black, orange, green)
(Lake Fork: Sapphire blue,black, orange
pink bady shad)(Just Jiggin ice jigs:
pink, purple & red)

Two (2) positions paid for "Big Fish"

1st: John Young
1 lb. 10.7 oz

2nd: Sam Adams
1 lb. 9.5 oz

Three (3) positions paid for "7 fish
total catch weight"

1st: Darryl & Terri Cole
9 lbs. .04 oz

2nd: Don Collins / Rusty Booth
9 lbs. 01 oz.

3rd: Sam Adams
8 lbs 11.7 oz

Three tenths of 1 oz separated first from
second place finish.
First time in recorded history of Florida Crappie Club.
Teams were fishing within 125 ft of each, along with big fish winner John Young.
Quite a feat- regarding weights and size
as this exceeded Monroe's last year
Aprll's tournament weigh in of 7lbs,7 oz.
and big fish of 1 lb. 8 oz.

Special thanks to all that participated
in this windy tournament, especially when
pre-fishing on Friday produced almost no
weights anywhere on lake. Also tip of hat
to group from CdC that fished with us.

Next tournament will be Lake Kissimmee
chain, Saturday, May 25th, Camp Mack,
Camp Mack road, off highway 60 east of
Lake Wales.
