    Default Umbrella rig

I picked up a few unweighted umbrella rigs as well as some double rigs to try out. I will mostly be long line trolling and was wondering if anyone had any tips. Any particular lures to try? The umbrella rigs i got are 4 arm and I'm wondering how deep they will run with 1/32 or 1/16 heads. I know the best way to figure it out is to get on the water and try it but I have an 8 week old and I'm 3 days post knee surgery so my time on the water will be limited.

I did the same thing, but have not tried them yet. I do also wonder about the same thing even using some 1/32 oz jigs so am thinking about tying some sickle jig hooks without a head and using several of them so the weight will not be an issue. I do think 1/16 would need deeper water or stay on bottom?

I also tie a fly called crappie candy that I have thought about using.

I tried a 5 arm one with 1/16oz road runners. Had to reel it to fast to keep it off the bottom. Then went to 1/32oz, and it was better, but was still to heavy. That was in about 7-8' of water though.

Something with a blade would provide resistance and keep it higher in the water column I would think. I'm surprised the roadrunners didn't keep it higher in the water. I just picked up a 3 arm rig last week.

Look's like I'm in the same boat as you. I got some of the 5 arm and have them rigged with unweighted hooks and 2 inch curl tails but I haven't been on the water to try them out. This weekend is looking to be cold so it will be 2 weeks before I get on the water. Maybe some of our more southern friends can enlighten us.

Tracker I have a couple now that I am thinking about. This first one I don't have a name for and I took the pic under a black light to show off the Flo.

The crappie Candy fly is this one....
