    Default Riggin' my Jon Boat...pics

I've been piddlin' with this rig for some time. Too hot for me on the lake, so I am doing some backyard engineering.

I am taking my leftover V2 autopilot circuit (removed when Ipilot installed) and adapting this technology to steer my jon boat engine. I will also be able to steer the boat engine with the co-pilot and the foot pedal if need be. If I wanted, I could connect the engine to an I pilot via my interface circuit. I also installed a steering linkage quick disconnect in case I want to use the tiller without the autopilot. This will also work with Blacklandlures redneck autopilot. This is by default, not by design.

I know this will work, so I am jut gonna install it without trial and error.

Panther makes a rig something similar to this, but it doesn't have autopilot. I tried to buy just their T4 linear actuator, but they said I had to buy the whole control, so heck with them. I just purchased an over the counter linear actuator.

The reason I am doing it is because I can. Just a hobby.

I am waiting on some parts to finish up. I will be putting the V2 compass autopilot in a box. Worst part of this project will be running the wiring from front to back thru the cable trough in the floor of the boat.

Nothin but smooth. Good work , as usual. I can see why you had trouble finding the right actuator, that one looks tough.
