Bent trolling motor..

Well.. I was out at one of my local lakes and I was having a GREAT time with my dad and we caught quite a few good keepers and I go to load the boat up and I hear BANG! so I thought it was just my trailer and I kept right on motoring onto the trailer.. It wouldn't go up on the trailer so I stopped and walked up front and low and behold my trolling motor was left down and I caught my trailer frame.. So now I have an L Shaped trolling motor that's already been bent once.. So now I get the pleasure of trying to save for another trolling motor.. Gotta love doing dumb things.. banghead

OUCH!!!! I did that once with my front electric anchor, had to put in new gears.

well it stinks, I can't afford a new one.. lol.. It came on the boat when I bought it and now I guess I'm out of luck..

Sorry to hear that. Keep an eye on the classifieds forum, there are usually a few for sale.
I was trolling In some shallow water the other day and hit a log with mine, it nearly dismounted mine.

You can replace the shaft, or if its metal you could bend it back with a pipe bender or try holding it on 2 blocks of wood, 1 at each end then put a board in middle of shaft and have someone slowly walk on it or drive on it but put a block under it the height to stop it from bending too far. May be worth a try

I got a MotorGuide 4300 42in. shaft 12v you can have for 150, but I aint shipping.

Unhook the wiring at the top, take it apart and your friendly machine shop will make you another. Or see if you can just buy a shaft from the mfg. I have had two built over the last many years with never a problem. Just be sure to seal it good at the motor end with silicone.
