I have about a 8 ft piece of 1 1/4" round pvc glued into a 1 1/2" t-cupling. The 1 1/2" will then slide over the seat pole. I will set the depth and tape the light cord to the end of the pvc pole. What i like about it is you can swing it to either side of the boat or just raise it alittle and swing it onto the deck and move to a diff spot without taking anything apart.

Put a couple clips on the electrial wire, one for a bobber, set it about 4' deep
fish in the dark waters around the light.

The 2nd clip is for a chum bag close to the top of the light. About the size of
pack of cigerates. Use dog food etc. The reason being it takes about 30-45 minutes
for the little iddy bitty bugs to swim across the lake to the light. By using chum
bag speeds up the process of attracting minnows to get a bait ball started.

    Have fun

Cast net or use a dip net on a long pole.

I myself do not use shad. Some buddys of mind do but they are either striper or catfishing. When they put their lights out they use a treble hook when the shad shows up. They just jerk up and catchem.
I am no artist but this is how mine looks. Alot of the times i dont anchor. I will tap the trolling motor and slowly move around. Sometimes catch alot more than sitting still. Plus if the wind blows alittle it keeps the light in place.
