My local lake is very productive from April to June and the last few weeks were phenomenal as usual! One thing I get a charge of is catching crappie on unusual baits (at least unusual for me). Yesterday I used the usual syle of grubs to catch over 60 fish and also jerkbaits and crankbaits such as the X-Rap, Storm Thunderstick and a small Bill Norman shallow dive crankbait. I also had a few slam some 4" plastic worms.

The three large schools I found produced non-stop hits in the shallows near pads and out on a mid lake hump. Right now many species are in shallow and picks, bass, white and yellow perch kept me busy between crappie hits. It is always nice to catch foot long crappies along with the normal 10"ers but they only account for 1 of 20 in my lake.

Lastly I used 2" Fin S Fish, small 1.5" tubes and small Slug-Os on 1/64 jigs - great hits that I could see 1' down.
