Entice them with a shiner/minnow, Crappie don't get fat on jigs.
Up here in the state of WA. Buddy and I went after Crappies last week and got skunked. Your thoughts and ideas welcome. We had several warming days that brought lake temp up from 54 to 60 degs. Headed to the inlet end of the lake figuring that would be the best place to stick um. Shoreline has good gravel, some downed tree cover and some good weed beds. Fished around trees and came up with one perch. Fished the weed beds and saw hundreds++ of fish on the finder sitting in the weeds and slightly atop. Depth was about 12'-8'. Water vis was about 4'-3'. We vertical jigged, side drifted with jigs and switched colors many times using big name mfg plastics. Tried putting on a piece of worm and using diff scents too. Tried a spinner bait, and rapala's. Tried a bit of drop shot too. Spent many hours working the weeds annnnd 0, nada, nothing. Any ideas?

I agree Minners is what they wanted!!!
Wishin I was Fishin
If the minnows don't work try spikes or wax worms on your jig.
We have really clear water here too, and bein that crappie are sorta spooky, I've found that at times I have to flip corks or long line to keep the boat away from the target. Maybe?

Unapplied biblical truth is like unapplied paint...how many gallons do you have sittin' around? U.D.
Mighta found em just after they had put the feed bag on. Sometimes ya just gotta move on and find a different school with different lunch bells.
We can't fish minnows here in washington for the most part.
Sorry, I don't know what that means "....can't fish with minnows in washington for the most part." But, in any case, while minnows may be an answer, it may not be THE answer. This year in Alabama the fishing has been t-o-u-g-h. It's been quite a while since I've been skunked (no brag, just fact) but I got skunked 5 or 6 times in a row this year and have been using everything, including minners. So, who knows. I guess that's why they call it fishin, not catchin.
Hi Joe, you going fishing?
Yep.
Got worms?
Yep, but I'm going fishin anyway.

If you can't use minnows, how about them gulp (fake) minnows?
It is hard to carry all the stuff that catches crappies and some of them
tackle boxes just ain't big enough. When it gets that bad and I can't
catch a fish, I just breath deep and enjoy the scenery and paddle
back to the truck.
