New guy from the Mille Lacs Lake area.

Hi, my name is Erick, but I am known as Skipper on a few fishing boards. I fish mostly the Central Minnesota area including the Mississippi River, Brainerd Lakes area, but mostly Mille Lacs and the surrounding area. I am a multi-species angler and usually fish for whats hot right now instead of focusing on one kind of fish. I fish for everything from suckers to musky and everything in between.

Last winter, I found myself only having time to fish at night due to work and family demands. Mille Lacs was slow to make ice this year and I really didn't trust it in the dark. This put a big hurt on my walleye time! I started fishing for that other fish that likes to bite at night.... Crappie! I chose a few lakes with good populations, patterned them, drilled tons of holes, and got into some pretty impressive fish for up here. With all game fish seasons closed until May 12 and the lakes wide open already, I needed something to fish again.... Crappie!

The problem is, I've never targeted them other than through the ice. I started googling for info to target them and many of the results led here. As a total n00b for crappie fishing other than the winter season, I am here to learn from you guys.

I am heading out on Saturday for a crappie dedicated trip. Now that I have found your site, I have a TON of reading to do!
