Hit the lake mid-morning since there were some showers in the area that we wanted to clear out. Water temp was 63. A couple of guys we talked to did little or nothing. We hit a couple of spots south of the island with no luck, then headed further down the lake along the west bank drop off. By then the sun was coming out and the air temp improved from the morning temp in the mid-forties.
We brought home two nice crappie and two nice saugeye, including a 17", 2 pounder that really gave Doug a workout on his UL. We caught a bunch of hammer handles and I picked up a big bull bluegill on a minnow. All of the saugeye were caught on crappie jigs tipped with minnows on a slow retrieve. Anything with some flash and/or orange seemed to work. -Roberta
