It's tge same as the old Wally Marshall tightline special, top of the line mini crappie reel, wallys new one looks even better, HT also makes a high end one, 10 bucks more, it's the HT 5500
Any opinions on this reel? I would use it for vertical fishing only, spooled with 30' of 10# line. It would be mounted on a 10' Crappie Maxx Signature Series rod. Thanks.

I clever quip fishing ironic statement crappie!
I got 4 of them on sale for like $12 a piece. If they didn't improve them any, save your money. The gears went out on 2 of mine. For 10 more bucks a pop and after less than a year I had to replace them. I went with Pfluger Trions. I know they are not baitcaster style but i like them better cause you never have to remember to put our guides down. And you don't have to flip it back around to reel or let line out.
I aint here to tell you anything. You want to know what Im doing....pm me and meet me on the lake.
If you are looking for some cheap that will last just as long try these:Mini casting reel | eBay. I been buying them for a couple of years and they last just as long. Try ro get the ones for under $8.00 and free shipping.

Thanks guys, I looked at the online sites you suggested. Now I did see the LEWS Wally Marshall on the Las Vegas ICAST 2011 news brief. LEWS makes good stuff I think, so the new Wally Marshall stuff may be good also. What do you think. ( am I hi-jacking my own thread? )
