    Question Hand tied jigs

Does anyone fish with hand tied jigs, as your major jig, year round?

Hand tied jigs are all I have fished with since last fall, beside pulling cranks for crappie. I'm always pulling new colors or different combinations of materials to see what jig will work. I have found that color on tied jigs does make a difference so it is good to have a choice of colors in your tackle box.

You bet, especially those I make myself. I also love to incorporate hackle with jelly bodies.

Simpson jigs most of the time. Don't have to worry about fixing the skirt.

Mr. Herman Simpson will tie any color you want and have them ready in just a few days if the colors he advertises aren't what your looking for. They are relatively inexpensive. He ties some for me on black nickel hooks that are deadly. If you want to get in touch with him shoot me a pm or just check out his website at www.simpsonjigs.com.

Lots of us here tie our own and use them a lot. I use mine if I'm not in a real grabby brushpile, but I don't like donating hand ties at a high loss rate. Used mine this morning and did well compared to the plastics that were used by a friend and I. I have caught over 80 fish on a couple of the jigs in my box that are still going, but they get broken off before that happens a lot.

Hand tied why tie if you're not going to fish them?

I tie my own and have not fished with anything else for over 10 years.
