Default Biggest crappie you have hooked but got off before you could land him?

I will start the ball with my story. It was a 4+ pounder that I got within 3 feet of the net before the hook pulled loose. Doh I knocked leaves off of trees for a quarter mile radius with my cussin'. :o And yes, he/she would have gone 4- I have a 3 pounder on the wall and have seen/caught a few more in the 3's. He/she was as wide as your fist, as long as your hand/forearm, and had mugged some bass for it's mouth. :D

OK, let's try to keep some semblance of truth with the posts here....

OK, I'll have a shot at a record. My ship pulled into Mombassa Kenya, We were anchored out in the harbor about 3 miles, I was bottom fishing off the fantail with 20 lb test and 5/0 hook with a hamburger pattie smothered in mustard, I got a tremendous bite and got it to the surface before the line broke, I got a real good look at it, it was about 3 feet long, I swear it was a Crappie, how do I know it was a crappie, well it looks just like the picture of one in the dictionary. By the way, I haven't actually landed a Crappie yet, but I dang sure know what one looks like, their kinda silvery colored with some fins and smell like fish.
Hey, catchin' fish is easy, finding thems the hard part.
